Cairns Basketball Inc. (CBI) has been a basketball association since 1958 and has occupied the current site on the corner of Aumuller and Gatton Streets since the early 1960s.
Over the decades, CBI has grown into a thriving basketball association, supporting players of all ages and abilities across Cairns and the wider Far North Queensland region. From grassroots programs and junior development through to representative pathways and community competitions, we are committed to fostering a love of basketball in a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment.
Our association works closely with affiliated clubs, coaches, volunteers, schools, and partners to deliver high-quality programs that focus on skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth. We believe basketball is more than a game — it is a powerful way to bring people together, build confidence, and strengthen community connections.
Guided by strong governance and a dedicated network of volunteers, Cairns Basketball Inc continues to evolve while honouring its rich history. We are proud of our past, passionate about our present, and focused on creating a strong and sustainable future for basketball in Cairns.
After initially delivering basketball with outdoor courts, in 1980 the first indoor court was added to the site. This was enhanced in 1994 to expand the seating and more.
