General Board Member
Aaron Luki comes from a proud sporting family with social connections across basketball, football, touch football and volleyball. Sport has always played a significant role in his life and family, with his involvement in basketball beginning more than 20 years ago, with a reconnection more recently through his children after his eldest started playing around 2012. Since then, all four of Aaron’s children have progressed through the Cairns Basketball club program with three of the oldest progressing into the representative program.
Professionally, Aaron has worked in the legal industry for the past 15 years, not only practicing law in the areas of Family Law, Child Protection and Domestic and Family Violence but more recently contributing heavily to Government Policy and legislative reform. In addition, Aaron has experience serving on boards, including President of the Community Legal Centres Queensland board bringing extensive experience in governance, strategic management and leadership. He is currently Acting Executive Director with his substantive role of Director of Legal with QIFVLS, a state wide Legals serivce. Aaron also holds a board position with Cairns Basketball Incorporated (CBI).
Aaron has been a member of the Cairns Basketball Board for the past 18 months and is passionate about giving back to a sport that has provided so much to his children and family. His focus is on helping support the continued growth, governance and long-term progress of Cairns Basketball while ensuring strong opportunities remain available for future generations of athletes.
